Gion Fukuzumi

I loved our room, the Japanese feel with the sliding door and tatami mats. I especially loved our little sun room, the amazing water pressure in the shower, and how much space there was. I also loved the public baths and used them most nights instead of my private room bath. The staff was incredible, they were so kind and went above and beyond to welcome us and help us whenever we needed. They treated us to matcha when we arrived, left Japanese sweets in our room each day, and made a small origami crane for us to bring with us for good luck. We carried the crane with us the whole trip, we loved it! Also, the location was unbeatable! We were in walking distance to the main street, Maruyama park, and many of our destinations, and we were right next to a bus stop for those destinations that weren't in walking distance.

Our stay was absolutely AMAZING! The highlight was undoubtedly the exquisite kaiseki dinner. The way they meticulously prepared each course right in our room was an experience in itself. Despite having a lively 1-year-old with us, the staff were incredibly patient and accommodating, ensuring we could enjoy the meal without any stress. The food was everything we hoped for—authentic, traditional, and absolutely delicious. We were excited for the kaiseki experience when we booked the hotel, and it did not disappoint! Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed, providing the perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The staff went above and beyond, from warmly welcoming us to thoughtfully preparing our bed at night. Their friendliness and attentiveness truly made our stay special. The location was ideal, just across from Yasaka Shrine and within a short 3-5 minute walk to convenient bus stops, making it easy to explore the area. I honestly can't find a single fault in our stay. My only regret? Not staying longer. We would absolutely love to return!

Traditional Japanese style Ryokan in Gion, close to Higashimaya historic district. So very central location to explore one of the main touristic areas in Kyoto. We had half-board. Two excellent meals. First night fish based in kaiseki style. Second night sukiyaki with plenty of marbled beef. The en-suite in the room had a "mini" version of Japanese onsen-style. Big public japanese onsen-style baths were available in highest floor and at ground floor - they alternated between mens and ladies (morning ground floor men, evening highest floor men, next day morning highest floor men, next evening ground floor men)

The staff and food here were wonderful. We had a kaiseki dinner and an absolutely lovely breakfast and both were exquisite. The location was great and the room large enough to fit four of us and our luggage. The staff were kind enough to store our baggage both before and after our stay so that we could further explore Kyoto. The staff were also very responsive to emailed questions. The overall experience was wonderful and highly recommended, especially for the reasonable price.

The staff was great, especially Keiko, who was very helpful and very nice to us. We loved the location as well. Couldn't be better ! We liked the little attentions to details, like the paper crane in the morning, the sweets and also the presents. Very kind and thoughtful. And it was very clean.
